Name:Rabastan Lestrange
E-mail:emilyannestout@gmail.com
Bio:Full Name: Rabastan Selwyn Lestrange
Nicknames: Rodolphus called him Stan when they were young, but apart from that, nothing.
Age: 28
Birthday: February 3, 1959
House/Year: Non-applicable.
Occupation: None currently. He is hiding from most wizards, and will not work with muggles. He has survived this far by stealing from them, which, surprisingly enough, he feels no shame in doing.
Sexuality: Anything but heterosexuality is an abomination.
Martial Status: He was all but engaged before he was forced to flee, but he graciously broke it off with her beforehand. He lost contact with most people after that, so for all he knows she could be married with five children now.

Immediate Family: Rodolphus Lestrange, elder brother. Estelle Montague nee Lestrange, elder sister. Bellatrix Lestrange, sister-in-law. Carling Lestrange, father and Daralis Lestrange nee Selwyn, mother (deceased).
Blood Status: Pure.
Loyalty/Alliance: Death Eater.
Role in the war: He joined the Death Eaters as expected, not at the same time as Rodolphus (he was a bit young even for them) but as soon after as possible. He did not make it particularly high into the ranks before the war ended, and what little he did manage was largely a result of his brother's influence. He did, however, control several important Ministry officials through the Imperius Curse, which was what got him caught in the end.

Full Personality: Rabastan was born in his brother's shadow. He was raised in his brother's shadow. He continues to live in his brother's shadow. This doesn't bother him, however - Rodolphus is the first son, he is the second, and that is the way it should be. He was never really abused, at least no more than any other child would have been in his situation, and does not think of himself as having been treated poorly. He was fed, clothed, and expected to be respectful and to uphold the family name as well as encouraged to develop his magical talents - just as long as he took care to never show up his brother. Again, he does not resent this. He respected his parents, in a distant sort of way, and looks up to Rodolphus. He considers him the epitome of a Lestrange, a wizard, a pureblood.

Aggressiveness is not his forte. Like his brother, he is a quiet gentleman. Gentle really is the word for him, as he has great difficulty killing and causing physical harm. He realizes this, however, and recognizes it as his greatest weakness, and as a result actively works to overcome it. Not having received their father's extensive training with the Cruciatus Curse like Rodolphus, he learned to practice on his own time. He still practices it and the Killing Curse when he can, though he has had to tone it down on occasion when the locals begin to investigate. After all these years, however, he has yet to fully master either of them. This is the one thing that is capable of frustrating him, ironically enough, and he has been known to become violent upon failing to kill or torture something or someone properly, leading to sudden success.

Despite his difficulty with the more violent Unforgivables, he is actually quite talented with the Imperius Curse. This is because he is very quietly personable. He is polite and easy to trust, and as a result people let their guards down around him. He is meek, inasmuch as a Death Eater is capable of meekness. He obeys orders well. He does not question recognized authority or fight for more power than he has. He does not particularly want power, to be honest - he just wants to be with and to be like Rodolphus, as that is his role. But less than him. Always less.

Appearance: Rabastan is tall - taller than his brother, in fact, and by a considerable margin. This was deemed embarrassing to Rodolphus, the heir, and as a result Rabastan was encouraged by their mother to slouch when standing near him. He continues to do this despite her being dead. He is pale and thin, almost gaunt, with dark hair cut long to hide his hazel eyes. He has high cheekbones and full, beautiful lips. Much about him is beautiful, actually, in a strange, almost effeminate way. But, like with the hair, he has always been encouraged to hide this lest his brother look bad by comparison.

Desired PB: Johnny Greenwood, please oh please? Erm.... I'm not sure who else I could use. I guess Tom Welling has a similar look, but he's a little too obviously pretty for me.

History: Rabastan was born the third and youngest child of an old, pure family that firmly believed all the bloodist ideology. His father, Carling, was one of the first Death Eaters. Several of his mother's brothers joined up as well. It should come as no surprise, then, that Rabastan and Rodolphus pledged their loyalty when the time came. They'd been raised for just that, after all.

Rabastan himself was raised to be his brother's shadow, and, if necessary, his replacement. He was meant to take after him in every way, and to take over for him in case of tragedy - which some might think likely, considering their affiliations, but the Lestranges have always had healthy egos. All agreed, Rabastan included, that if any of them were to die it would be the youngest. He was not as talented as his brother, nor as strong, and he had not received training as rigorous as Rodolphus', though he had, of course, studied under their father to a degree.

When the war ended he was all but engaged to a young pureblooded woman named Elena, but considered it only polite to break it off with her before he left the country. Since then he has traveled around Europe, occasionally meeting up with his brother and Bellatrix and a handful of other Death Eaters, but spending most of his time alone. Because of this, he has become even more quiet and withdrawn than he was before, and has a tendency to talk pleasantly to himself, especially when cursing people.

First Person: Everything I would have thought to say has been said already. I do not want to sound ungrateful. I am very glad the Minister has seen fit to pardon me. I will tell him so when I get back. It just seems silly to go on about it when others have already.
I am looking forward to going home. Things will be different, but I am not sure how. Except that father is in hospital. I heard that. I can’t remember how. It was awhile ago. Everything was.
[Rodolphus]
I suppose I’ll go tonight. There is no point in waiting. It is a bother though. It is much easier to find subjects there but they are much faster at noticing people are missing. Unless you use street people but they are very dirty. You have to be more careful there. I wonder if I will be careful enough. I suppose I will find out.
I will visit father first. The rest can wait. I am not sure I will visit them anyway. It might not be appropriate to speak to Elena. She might have children. It was eight years ago and she was pretty. I wonder if she would have waited if we had been engaged. I wonder if she named a child after me. That would be nice.
I wonder if I should see Stella. I suppose it would be proper. Perhaps I will see how father is first. If he is not well she should be scolded for leaving him there.
[/Rodolphus]

Third Person: Rabastan had been very careful. He had to be. So many people were waiting for him to slip up. He did not want to slip up, even if that would get him back to Rodolphus. Rodolphus would be displeased if he failed, as would the Dark Lord.
This was only a short trip to St. Mungo’s, his first since returning to Great Britain. He had not been able to go as soon as he had liked on account of his sister demanding his attention. Stella had not seemed to completely believe in his innocence, and was unwilling to let him stay with her and her husband, but there were not many places he could go at the moment.
He smiled over at the auror to his left. He and the rest of Rabastan’s guard must hate this task. Surely it grated on them to accompany a Death Eater (they probably did not believe in his innocence either) to visit his father in hospital. It must grate even more to know Rabastan himself had asked for the guard.
His gaze drifted past the aurors and landed on an elderly mediwitch, to whom he nodded gently. He ignored her gaping at him and his entourage in favour of studying the room numbers. Father was in room 21-B. Where was it? Ah, there. He walked over, then paused at the door and turned to face his self-imposed guard.
“Thank you,” he said. “I would appreciate it if you would stay outside. I hope that is all right.” The head auror of the group, a man with a great deal of stubble, looked irritated that Rabastan was being so polite, but he nodded shortly. “Just hurry it up, boy,” he said.
Rabastan smiled again and opened the door, shutting it behind him as he entered the room.
